Here are some techniques on how to maintain a good yoga position. Just follow these steps in order for you to fully understand yoga positions and be able to execute it in the proper manner.

1. You should stand with the bases of your big toes touching and the heels should be slightly apart. You must lift and spread your toes slowly and the balls of your feet too. Then after, you need to lay them softly down on the floor. Rock yourself back and forth and even side to side. You may gradually reduce this swaying to maintain a standstill, with your weight balanced evenly on your feet.

2. Hardening your thigh muscles and then lifting the knee caps is next. Do it without hardening your lower belly. Lift the inner ankles to make stronger the internal arches, then picture a line of energy all the way up along your inner thighs up to your groins. From there through the core of your neck, torso, and head, and out through the crown of your head. You should turn the upper thighs slowly inward. Make your tailbone longer toward the floor and raise the pubis in the direction of the navel.

3. Push your shoulder blades into your back, then broaden them crossways and discharge them down your back. Without roughly pushing your lower front ribs forward, lift the top of your sternum straight toward the ceiling. Broaden your collarbones. Suspend your arms alongside the torso.

4. You should balance the crown of your head unswervingly over the middle of your pelvis, with the base of your chin analogous to the floor, throat soft, and the tongue broad and plane on the floor of your mouth. Make your eyes look softer.

5. Tadasana is usually the initial yoga position for all the standing poses. Applying Tansana is useful especially in applying the poses. Staying in the pose for 30 seconds up to 1 minute, then breathing easily keeps it satisfactory.

Just follow these simple figures and you are sure that you are doing the right yoga positions.

High definition TVs will receive the actual digital signal from a cable service, either from Dish network or DirecTV. These cable services offer HDTV shows that includes but are not limited to NBA TV, Showtime, CBS, HBO TV, Pay Per View, etc. Some of these HDTv shows are free upon subscription and others have a separate subscription like HBO.

The best HDTV antenna to be very effective must be within an area where off air broadcasts of high definition TV shows are available. A high definition tuner card is sometimes capable to receive high definition TV show signals.

This is why the consumer must be able to comprehend if his high definition tuner card is able to receive off air broadcasts of high definition TV shows. If a high definition tuner card is already capable of receiving high definition TV show signals then teh consumer no longer needs the best HDTV antenna available.

Though some consumers say that the high definition tuner card is sufficient enough against the use of the best HDTV antenna. Other consumers still say that the best HDTv antenna is needed to be able to come up with the superior picture and sound.

EIther the best HDTV antenna or the high definition tuner card, that is for the consumer to try out for themselves, sometimes the high definition TV show signal in an area is very weak that they really need the best HDTV antenna to be able to view effectively the high definition TV shows.

Some Considerations In Set-Up Of High Definition TV Sets

There are a few other considerations a consumer must take aside from looking for the best HDTV antenna and high definition tuner cards available in the market:

The consumer must be aware of the input or output jacks needed to complete all high definition TV connections. The consumer might decide to connect a few other equipment or accessories to his high definition TV set and therefore must be able to check what input or output jacks does he need even before buying a high definition TV set.

A consumer can connect a DVD, VHS, cabale box and even video game consoles to his high definition TV set and will entail careful planning for the connection.

Yoga Moves

Let’s do the Yoga Moves…

Madonna does it. Cameron Diaz, Reese Witherspoon, Katie Holmes and Janet Jackson also do it. These famous celebrities are working out the yoga moves. But this is not the reason why you should do yoga moves. The reason that you should try the classical yoga moves is simple: It will make you feel active with an over all good feeling.

Yoga is an ancient system of movements for personal development of the mind and body. Yoga practitioners viewed it as an all-encompassing lifestyle, emphasizing compassion, non-violence and inner peace. It consists of various yoga moves and poses.

With its gentle movements, yoga moves have been an ideal method for relaxation and body stimulation. Moreover, performing the yoga moves helps you stay focused and awake during your work day.

Like any exercise, you can do different yoga moves while seated at your desk. It also starts with the basics of breathing. However, there are some yoga moves that are difficult, but it’s not necessary to twist your body into any pose that’s not comfy for you.

Below are some of the easy to do yoga moves:

1.The Downward- Facing Dog Pose

This yoga move is said to be the top dog of all poses. It starts with hands and knees. Spread your palms out with the pinkies about an inch from each side of your mat. Press your hips up and back. Slowly lower your heels toward the floor. Your body should be in an inverted "V" shape. Breathe deeply, and concentrate on stretching your heels closer to the ground, contracting your stomach muscles and lifting your butt higher toward the sky. Make sure to keep your head in line with your spine by looking back toward your knees. Stay in this position for about a minute.

2. Tree Pose

This is a simple but powerful pose that needs balance and grace.

Stand straight with your legs together. Bend your left leg and place the left foot on the inner right thigh your left toes should point toward the floor and the left knee points out. With your hands on your hips, try and even them out so they are more-or-less level and your torso is facing straight ahead. Once you feel balanced place your hands in a prayer position in front of your chest and then slowly lift your arms above your head, keeping the palms together. Gaze softly at a point in front of you and breathe deeply, holding for about 30 seconds. Return to the starting position and reverse legs.

3. Half Bridge Pose

Finally, this pose will help you improve your posture. Lie flat on your back with your arms at your side palms facing down, and knees bent with heels as close to your buttocks as possible. On an exhalation, push your feet and arms into the floor and lift your hips into the air so your butt rises off the ground and your thighs are parallel to the floor. Do not clench your cheeks but rather concentrate on extending your knees toward the wall in front of you, keeping your thighs and feet parallel. Roll your shoulders underneath you so your arms move toward each other and clasp your hands together. Stay in this pose for about a minute, releasing on an exhale.

Practice these yoga moves for a few weeks, and see how much better you feel!

Yoga Learn

Yoga Learn
Yoga, learn the basics

For you to learn what yoga are you should know first what the real meaning of yoga is. So what is Yoga?

Yoga is present for more that 3,000 years and originated from the land of India. The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit word “yuj” which means to bind, join attach and yoke. This also means "union, to direct and concentrate one's attention on, to use and apply."

In other words, yoga is about concentrating on your mind and body to bind you to God.

It's about disciplining yourself to balance your mind, soul, and emotions, so that you can connect with your individual spirit or your "jivatma", which is in turn part of the Supreme Universal Spirit or the "Paramatma," a.k.a. God.

It's about focusing your energy into constructive channels. And the name of an individual who follows the teachings of yoga is known as a "yogi."

In this article Yoga, learn the basics you will be exposed to the basic forms of yoga. There are actually lots of different types of yoga; it is not strictly a term for the stretchy exercise we will be discussing. The term "yoga" can refer to any of these things:

Karma yoga -- focuses on giving of oneself without expecting any reward

Jnana yoga -- a philosophical approach to unveiling the illusions of the world

Bhakti yoga -- channeling emotional energy into one's spiritual practice

Rhaja yoga -- focuses on concentration and mind control

As there are many styles of dance, so are there many forms of yoga that you should learn. In fact, a new one might be developing right now, as a teacher puts his or her own stamp on a specific technique.

Current popular yoga styles include, but are not limited to:

Gentle yoga, which is sometimes also called by the generic name "hatha yoga" --this usage of "hatha" is debatable; some folks believe the term should only be used to refer to the general idea for all physical yogas, while others use it colloquially to refer to the gentler style.

In Gentle yoga, the focus is on long stretches and flexibility, with slow, deep breathing (yogic breathing is known as "Pranayama"). This can be very soothing for the mind -- it is the kind of mellow style most people picture when they think of yoga.

Kundalini yoga, which works on the premise that the body has eight "chakras," and through use of "breath of fire" (rapid breathing), one can heat up the body from the bottom up, eventually "raising kundalini" to achieve a feeling of high enlightenment.

Power yoga, which is also known by the Sanskrit term Vinyasa yoga (a "vinyasa" is a series of rapid movements which warm up the body all over). This is a very active form of yoga, in which a person is moves quickly through the poses (called "Asanas"), not holding them as long as in other styles.

It is virtually guaranteed that you will sweat a lot in this; it is not for the faint of heart and gives a real challenge to the muscles

To learn yoga you must put your full attitude and spirit into it. This not a gym exercises where you can just stride through when you are already feeling fat.

Yoga is much more into the spiritual well being that being into the physical fitness.

Are You Willing to Follow Eight Yoga Exercises For the Lower Back?

 Eight Yoga Exercises
EXERCISES FOR BACK RELIEF
Many people believe that rest is best for a painful back, but actually, what your back really needs when it's hurt is exercise. Regular exercise relieves back pain by strengthening and stretching the muscles that support the spine and helps to prevent future injury. This is a use it or lose it situation: the more you rest, the weaker your back gets, even if it is hurt. Studies have actually shown that you can heal your back pain faster and get back to your regular activities with just two days of rest. This article will focus on Yoga Exercises. Remember to contact your doctor before beginning any exercise program.
YOGA EXERCISES FOR YOUR BACK
A good, regular yoga practice will go far in relieving the stress and tension that sometimes cause mild back pain, and in fact, studies have shown that yoga is the number one most effective exercise for relieving back pain. However, not all yoga poses relieve back pain, and some can in fact aggravate existing pain, so it is important to know which poses will be most helpful in relieving back pain. It is best to do these exercises under the supervision of a certified yoga instructor, and if you encounter any problems with these poses, you should consult an expert. Even just one or two sessions with a yoga instructor can help, as an instructor will help you with your form and posture during poses. Here are some of the best yoga poses for relieving back pain. Each pose should be held from five to ten seconds, depending upon your level of comfort, and should be done on a mat or other soft, supportive surface.
CORPSE: Lie flat on your back in a relaxed position, arms resting at your sides, palms down, and legs lying naturally, with knees turned out slightly. If it hurts your back to have your knees turned outward, do this pose with knees bent, feet flat on the floor. Breathe in and out for a few seconds while allowing any tension to leave the body.
CAT STRETCH: Start out on your hands and knees with a flat back. Your hands should be directly under your shoulders with fingers spread. Knees should be directly under the hips. Head is held loosely so that you are looking at the floor between your hands. Inhale, and as you exhale, arch your back toward the ceiling, tuck your chin in to your chest so that you are looking at your navel, and tuck your tailbone underneath. Hold, then release back into your original position.
WIND-RELEASING POSE: Lie flat on your back as in Corpse pose. As you inhale, bend your knee, place your hands right below the knee, and draw your leg towards your chest. Your left leg should remain flat on the floor. Exhale and bring your forehead up to touch your knee. Inhale, and then as you exhale, return to your original position. Repeat with the other leg.
SAGE TWIST: Warning for this pose-it involves twisting your back, so you should take particular care not to twist too far or you risk aggravating any existing back pain. This should be a gentle stretch; twist just as far as is comfortable. Sit on the floor with both legs out in front of you. Bend your right knee, lift your right leg over your left, and place your right foot on the floor next to your left knee. Sitting with spine straight, place your left elbow on the right side of your right knee. Bend your left arm so that your left fingertips are touching your right hip, while at the same time, twisting to look over your right shoulder. This is where you need to be careful not to twist too far. Hold for a few seconds, release, and repeat on the opposite side.
PALM TREE: Stand with feet facing forward, arms at your sides, weight distributed evenly on both feet. Raise both arms over your head, interlock your fingers, and turn your hands so that your palms are facing upward. Next, place your palms on your head and turn your head so that you are looking slightly upward. Stretch your arms upwards, and at the same time, come up onto your toes if you can do so without pain. Stretch your entire body upward and hold, if you can. Some people have difficulty balancing during this pose, so just do the stretching part if you need to.
FISH POSE: Lie on your back with knees bent and arms at your side. Arch your back as far as you comfortably can and raise it off the ground by pushing the floor with your elbows. If you can, tilt your head backwards and rest the crown of your head on the floor. Breathe deeply from the diaphragm and hold pose for one minute if you can.
LOCUST: Lie face down with arms at the side, palms down, and elbows slightly bent with fingers pointing towards the feet. Raise your legs and thighs as high off the ground as possible without causing your back any pain. Hold for one second and repeat up to twelve times. This can be a vigorous exercise so you must take care to strain already injured muscles.
BENDING FORWARD POSTURE: Stand up straight with feet together and arms hanging loosely along your sides. Breathe in deeply and raise your arms straight above your head. While breathing out, bend forward and touch your toes if you can. If you can't reach your toes, grab hold of your ankles or calves. To complete the pose, you should touch your head to your knees, but this may be too difficult for many who suffer from lower back pain. Your movements during this pose should be smooth, not jerky.

Yoga vs Gym Workouts - Which is Better?

Can Wilmington Yoga replace going to the gym?
Yoga vs Gym Workouts
Even the most enthusiastic "yogi" will tell you that yoga doesn't do it all for them -claiming that they feel the strongest and healthiest when they combine yoga with high intensity cardiovascular and weightlifting exercise.
For most people, a solid yoga session is more beneficial than the "typical gym workout", which looks a little something like this...
Spend 30 minutes getting ready, making sure I look cute. Look myself up and down in the mirror. Take a deep breath before entering the loud, busy gym. Swipe my card on the machine. Compare myself to everyone else around me. Wait 5 minutes for this loud and obnoxious man to get off the machine on my checklist. Ok. Thigh Adductor Machine- 15reps. Check. Thigh Abductor Machine- 15 reps. Check. Ok. I see where this is going. Next machine...
Just imagine how disappointed you would be after going through this routine for months, only to see that your efforts produced little to negative results.
So, here are 5 truths that will help you achieve that lean and taut body you desire in less time...
1. The Benefits of Yoga
The two most effective benefits of yoga are increasing flexibility and increasing lubrication of the joints, ligaments and tendons - yoga has positions that act upon the various joints of the body including those joints that are never really on the 'radar screen' let alone exercised.
Contact me if you want a recommendation to a great yoga instructor in Wilmington, NC.
2. The Redundancy of Long, Slow Workouts
The 60-90 minute lackadaisical workout you've been doing is redundant and useless because of your yoga training. Yoga is aerobic in nature. If you aren't pushing yourself hard enough during your workout, then that too becomes aerobic in nature.
Experts suggest supplementing yoga with short, intense workouts to build anaerobic capacity, which is not trained in most yoga classes.
3. The Truth About Anaerobic vs. Aerobic Training
What's the difference? Well, for the sake of keeping this article at a readable size - just Google it. What you do need to know is that anaerobic conditioning improves your performance in all areas of your life - including aerobic activities.
However, this does not work the other way around, aerobic exercise will not improve your anaerobic capacity- it actually produces a catabolic effect by tearing down the proteins in your muscles.
4. Accountability to Others
I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to train in a group dynamic.
We've all done it - tried to work out in our home or at the park by ourselves. It doesn't work. You know deep down inside you don't push yourself as hard as you do in front of a group cheering you on. Outside perspective also plays a key role in developing good form - take advantage of constructive criticism by your peers. Ultimately, it comes down to being accountable for your work; make sure you find an instructor who cares when you miss a class/workout.
5. Short, High Intensity Workouts
The best supplement for yoga training is a strength and conditioning fitness program that focuses on functional movements performed at high intensity. This type of strenuous exercise is the perfect complement for a calm and relaxing practice such as yoga - implementing both into your routine will help you physically, mentally and perhaps even spiritually.
So, do you think yoga can completely replace going to the gym or just the gym you go to?

Stress Management Through Yoga

Stress Management Through Yoga
Stress, almost all are victim of this drastic term. People from all occupations are facing stress in their life in one way or the other. In this article I would like to summarize the causes and cure for stress through natural therapy called "YOGA". But before coming to that point we should have clear understanding of what exactly the stress is. Stress is usually a mental pressure exerted due to fatigue or excessive work. It is also caused from worrying about the work or happenings in the past, present or future. Suppose there is a businessmen exporting his products to several countries, his business is doing fine and growing but somehow a situation comes and he finds his business on decline though there might be some cause for this and it could be short lived making his business to bloom once again, but within this short span the person develops stress which may lead to severe mental hazards.
In the modern world we face stress in every sphere and every step of our life, whether we are in schools, colleges, offices etc. Students face stress due to exams, serviceman face stress due to huge pile of pending work etc. As a result people often practice medications like taking sedatives, narcotics and tranquilizers (medicines to cure anxiety) which calm the mind but in future it creates serious other maladies.
But still there is a therapy which is purely natural and is considered to be the best weapon against stress and that is "YOGA". Yoga is the ancient mantra for sound health and also to retain juvenility to a great extent. It has been practiced by several Rishi-Munis in ancient India and now has become a major concern among the modern genre too.
So back to stress management, Yoga provides a unique way of managing stress through Prayanama (A breathing technique), in this technique an individual do slow and steady breathing - like inhaling through his one nostril and exhaling through other. Besides there are fast breathing movements like intake of air through nostrils and exhaling through mouth at fast pace, this way air is passed properly through blood capillaries and the person feels himself / herself in light mode i.e. he / she feels that there is no burden over their mind and soul.
Dhyana (Meditation) is also a good method of controlling stress, in this part of Yoga a person sits in a posture (usually in relaxing mode) and concentrate his / her mind over one point with eyes closed. The mind is concentrated upto an extent when an individual feels that he / she has no interaction with the surroundings, infact the mind reaches in a neutral stage thereby relieving mental exhaustion. Hence yoga provides the best cure to this serious ailment which is disrupting the life of millions of people daily. Anyone practicing yoga daily is rarely suspected to stress, as yoga creates the mind and body immune to stress.
Finally Yoga has and is proving itself as "Stress Management Tool" and now a days it is being used in Western world too as a major alternative to the offensive allopathic drugs.

Yoga Positions - The Yogic Prescription For Health and Healing

Yoga Positions
The most popular yoga positions are called Hatha yoga. Hatha yoga gives aid to the emotional, mental and well-being of the human body. It dates back to the 15th century and it focuses on making the body more fit for a higher form of meditation. Different positions are recommended by doctors to take away health problems ranging from headaches to cancer.
It helps relieve stress from the body. It takes away stress because it stretches the body, while at the same time controlling your breathing. This relaxes the body so you can focus more on any kind of meditation. It gets your body lean, toned and fit.
Yoga is great for people of all ages. It doesn't take that long to learn and it is fun. Those that do yoga don't usually gain weight like the body usually does every single year. Those that don't use yoga gain a pound a year. If you add those pounds up you can see a tremendous weight gain. Practicing it takes both your mind and your body. There are eight basic exercises.
There is yoga that focuses on the correct alignment of the body. You hold your poses for a longer period of time. Another type is practiced in a room that is heated to 105 degrees. You want to make sure you practice yoga safely, by breathing the correct way, don't overstretch, go slowly and learn from a teacher.
What do you need while doing yoga? You need some comfortable fitting clothing that will allow you to move around freely. You don't want to be distracted by clothing either. You don't want to be focusing on the clothing instead you want to keep your mind on the exercises. Most people go barefoot while doing this kind of exercising. The other thing you want to get is a nice mat with padding. This will help you if you are on a really hard floor.
Other things you can get are a bag to carry your mat in. You can also get some nice music to exercise to. The music is so relaxing that it helps relieves the stress in your muscles. You'll feel a lot better and your body will respond to it in a great way. Sometimes the music brings you the sounds of nature and the outdoors. It is light, inspirational and helps keep you in a good mood.
You also want to get a good water bottle, this way you can flush out the toxins in your body as you are doing the exercises. The more water you drink the better off you will be.
You want to make stretching a part of your daily routine, like brushing your teeth and eating. You want to make stretching as important as these other daily routines because if you don't you'll be tempted to leave them out. This is just a few things I know about yoga positions.

Travel And Learn Yoga

Travel And Learn Yoga
I am currently based in Bangkok and live a relatively simple life. Work is easy enough, and very flexible. Finances are never enough to be extravagant, but I'm comfortable. Although in a semi-serious relationship, I have total freedom to either leave for a while, or take my partner and go overseas with me. After having recently seen a few television documentaries and done some research, I decided to have a quick go at Yoga in my local fitness center. Now I didn't really enjoy the experience a great deal, but not for reasons that one might first think. The thing that made it less than enjoyable was my instructor. Not only did the language barrier cause some misunderstandings, but he also appeared to not really understand Yoga for what it is.
Therefore I am looking to learn Yoga properly and have a vacation at the same time. I want to go somewhere special, close to Buddhism and quite out of the way and spiritual. Even though Yoga originated in India, I don't want to go there again. I have decided to learn Yoga in Nepal. I appreciate that there are still going to be some language issues, but believe that the better techniques of the instructors and the serene environment will help us both. Nepal is not India, but let's face it, when Yoga was first created, practised and established several thousand years ago India as a nation didn't exist in its present form. Also, with all the hustle and bustle that one gets in India, I truly believe that Nepal has the best balance of spirituality, ease of relaxation, peace and fresh air, and competent instructors.
I will miss Bangkok. But I am so eager to become proficient in Yoga that I think it is the perfect opportunity to get away from the traffic and the sweltering Thai summer months. After doing some research, I have discovered that with the right mindset and some ability to meditate, one can become quite good at Yoga within just a few weeks. My biggest hurdles are going to be switching off the pain because I am far from lithe, flexible or athletic, and turning my mind off from worldly interruptions. Nepal is peaceful, yet it has a half-decent infrastructure for public transport and the people have relatively good English skills. The food is something that needs getting used to, but I don't foresee too much of a problem there.
The biggest decision to make, now that I have already decided to learn Yoga in Nepal is whether or not to take my partner. Freedom and loneliness are good commodities when trying to clear the mind, but doing things together is more fun and less expensive.

Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga Yoga
It is a dynamic yoga system that elegantly synchronizes breath with movement, and provides increased flexibility, strength, endurance, balance, breathing control and relaxation.

Each position (asana) is associated with breathing synchronized movements called vinyasa, which links breathing and movement, so the posts succession in a flow from start to finish. It is predetermined, where in a position you have to breathe in and out. Just as there is an established way to get in and out of each post. Finally out posts in a very specific order. Traditionally performed a full vinyasa between each asana and half vinyasa between right and left side. This serves as a juxtaposition to the previous asana, increases circulation and facilitates stiffness before moving into the next position. By performing vinyasa built and maintained warm in the body and it also causes excessive perspiration, which according to the yoga tradition is necessary atrense body.

The Difference Between Yoga and Exercise

Yoga and Exercise
Like regular exercise, yoga strengthens and tones the body. Regular exercise typically makes a body stronger and less flexible. Weight training for example, builds strength by breaking down and rebuilding muscle tissue. That bulky, muscle bound look and tighter muscle mass is a result of this breaking down and rebuilding of muscle. Yoga strengthens the body by toning the muscles and creates longer, leaner muscles due to the stretching. Yoga creates a body that is stronger and more flexible. Often the goal of regular exercise is to increase the heart rate.
While yoga can be practiced vigorously to increase heart rate, it can also be practiced in a way that reduces the heart rate and lowers blood pressure. Typically one exercises to a point of fatigue. At the end of a yoga practice, you feel as though you have had a workout, but are more relaxed and energized. Hatha yoga is not just a series of exercises, but a principle of exercise that involves concentration, breathing and movement.
Yoga offers many additional benefits as well. Bending, stretching and twisting the body massages and soothes the internal organs aiding digestion and elimination. Our hormones are brought into greater balance due to the toning of the endocrine system. The respiratory system is strengthened and the nervous system is soothed. Stress relief is also a major benefit of practicing yoga. In fact, all systems of the body are affected by a yoga practice.
